    Manual upload

Manual upload treats a file as a data source. It is the fastest way to see how Briefs read, and it is the only source type on the Free Forever plan.

    Supported formats

    • CSV, including tab and semicolon delimited files
    • Excel workbooks, with one sheet per table
    • JSON records, as an array of flat objects
    • Pasted tabular data for quick tests

    How to upload

    1. 1

      Open Connections and choose Upload

Select Upload data instead of a connector.

    2. 2

      Add the file

Drop the file in, or paste rows directly. Keep one header row and one record per row.

    3. 3

      Confirm the column types

SIGNLD proposes types and keys. Correct dates, currencies, and identifier columns before continuing.

    4. 4

      Name the source

Name it after the system it came from, for example QuickBooks export, so lineage stays readable.

    Limits

    • Free Forever allows 2 manual-upload sources, 512 MB storage, and manual refresh at weekly maximum.
    • Uploads do not refresh themselves. A new file replaces or appends to the source when you upload it.
    • Merged cells, multi-row headers, and pivoted layouts need cleaning before upload.
    • Lineage points at the file, sheet, and rows, so keep the export you uploaded.

    Manual upload FAQ

Can I mix uploads and live connectors?

Yes on paid plans. Uploaded sources and live connections both become part of the same Knowledge Graph and can be used in one Topic.

How large can a file be?

File size is bounded by your plan storage, which starts at 512 MB on Free Forever and 5 GB on Plus. Split very large exports by period.

    Do uploads keep history?

Yes. The graph is temporal, so previously uploaded periods stay answerable after you add a new file.
