    Decision Topics

A Decision Topic is a named thing you are tracking, such as cash runway, margin by location, or on-time delivery. It scopes the entities, metrics, and rules that a question should be answered against, so answers stay consistent over time rather than depending on how the question was phrased. In the app the left nav calls these Topics.

    How it works

    • A Topic names the subject and the decision it supports.
    • Metrics attached to the Topic define what is measured and how.
    • Rules define thresholds and conditions worth reacting to.
    • Questions asked inside a Topic inherit its definitions, so two people get the same answer.
    • Topic history is retained, which is how trend and drift questions stay answerable.

    How to use it

    • Name the decision, not the dashboard. Cash runway beats finance overview.
    • Start with one Topic per recurring meeting.
    • Promote a rule you keep re-checking into a Risk Alert on the same Topic.

    Decision Topic FAQ

How many Topics should we create?

One per recurring decision. Most teams run well with three to five active Topics, which also matches the Growth plan allocation of 5 Topics.

Is a Topic the same as a dashboard?

No. A dashboard is a display. A Topic is scope and definition, so any question asked inside it is answered with the same metrics and rules.

Can two Topics share a metric?

Yes. Metrics live in the Knowledge Graph, so the same definition can be used by any number of Topics without being redefined.
